William Saletan’s article really gave me pause – the conservative movement isn’t just a static, white bloc of gun-toting Christian fundamentalists. It’s a political movement that at base moves at a glacial pace, holding on to “traditional American values”, but re-frames these values as the decades pass.
And then the view that Beck and his fans are insecure, confused people who are trying to come to grips with the fact that they are losing their dominance in government and society.
